Emery County Release Meaning
A release is an exit from one custodian. It does not erase a case, end every form of supervision, or prove that the person entered the community. Someone may leave Emery County Jail after bond, a court order, time served, dismissal, or completion of a local sentence. Another person may leave the same building through a transfer to the Utah Department of Corrections, another county, a federal custodian, or an immigration authority. The release record must identify both the event and the next destination.
Released Emery County inmates normally disappear from a current-custody view because that view answers who is housed now. Emery County does not publish an official online jail roster or recent-release archive in the sources reviewed. A dated Sheriff record is therefore far stronger than a blank web result. The court file can explain why release was authorized, while the jail entry records when physical custody ended.
- Release
- An exit from a named custodian, either to the community or another agency.
- Parole
- Conditional release from a prison term under Utah Board authority.
- Probation
- Community supervision ordered by a court, often instead of jail or after a local term.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision, not merely an exit from a cell.
Emery County Release Types
The wording on the record controls the next search. Bond means the person left pretrial custody under court terms. Time served means the jail credited the required local term. Parole concerns a state prison sentence and is not the same as discharge. A transfer ends Emery custody but may begin custody elsewhere. Each result calls for a different source.
| Disposition | What it establishes | Next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court release | Physical jail custody ended under an order or bond terms. | Justice or District Court docket |
| Time served | The local custody term was credited as complete. | Judgment and jail release entry |
| Probation | The person is in the community under court supervision. | Probation order and AP&P contact |
| Parole | A state prisoner left confinement under Board conditions. | Board decision and UDC status |
| Transfer | Emery custody ended, but community release is not proved. | Receiving agency record |
| Discharge | The sentence or supervision ended by order or expiration. | Termination order and agency status |
Dismissal of one charge also may not end all custody. Another warrant, case, or hold can remain. An escape or an alleged absconder status is not a lawful release and must not be labeled as one. Ask for the exact disposition instead of relying on a broad phrase such as “not in jail.”
Emery County Release Record Fields
A focused request should name the fields needed from the booking and custody history. Emery County may keep them in more than one record, so asking only for a “release record” can be too vague. Use the full legal name, safe identifying details, booking number when known, and an approximate date range. Request public portions even if some fields require redaction.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Booking date and number | Connects the exit to the correct custody episode. |
| Arresting agency and charges | Identifies the basis recorded at booking, not the final case result. |
| Release date and time | Records the actual exit timestamp when maintained. |
| Release disposition | States bond, court release, time served, transfer, or another reason. |
| Releasing authority | Names the court or agency that authorized the event. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Separates community release from transfer. |
| Bond details | Shows public bond type or amount tied to the booking. |
| Booking photograph | Identifies the image, subject to Utah access limits. |
No Emery source promises that every field will appear in one response. A court order states legal authority, but it may not show the moment the door opened. The Sheriff’s custody entry answers that time question. When exact proof is needed, compare the two records and label each date by its true meaning.
Note: Ask for both the release disposition and destination because an exit from Emery custody may still be an agency transfer.
Request Emery County Release Records
Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act, known as GRAMA, is the archive path when no public feed exists. Send a county-jail request to the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, which created or holds the jail record. The county provides an official Government Records Access Request Form. Call first to confirm the current records officer and delivery method.
- Identify the person with a full name, date of birth or booking number, and a narrow booking date range.
- Ask for the booking sheet, custody history, release date and time, disposition, destination, and releasing authority.
- Request electronic copies and a fee estimate before the office incurs costs.
- Ask for segregable public portions and a written statute or classification for any withheld material.
- Use the denial and appeal information required by Utah Code §63G-2-205 if access is denied.

Records hours and submission channel: verify by phone
Section 63G-2-204 ordinarily gives an entity ten business days to approve, deny, identify a known custodian, or invoke an extraordinary circumstance. The shorter five-business-day track requires the public-benefit showing defined by law. It is not automatic for a personal request. No Emery Sheriff fee schedule for release records was found, so request an estimate rather than assuming a dollar amount.
Emery County Record Access Rules
GRAMA §63G-2-201 creates a right to inspect public records, not every government record. Utah classifies records as public, private, controlled, protected, or restricted by another law. Personal identifiers, medical facts, victim data, active investigative material, juvenile records, and sealed or expunged cases may be withheld or redacted. Section 63G-2-203 permits reasonable actual-cost fees and allows free inspection of a public record subject to statutory limits.
Retention is separate from public access. No verified Emery policy promises a fixed online life for booking or release data. A missing web entry does not show that the underlying record was destroyed. Ask the Sheriff which adopted Utah Archives record series applies. This keeps a historical search tied to the county’s actual retention practice instead of importing another county’s window.
Note: A narrow request for named fields and dates is easier to route than a demand for a broad jail database export.
Emery County Expunged Release Records
Utah expungement removes qualifying records from public inspection by sealing or restricting access. It does not necessarily destroy every agency copy. Both automatic and petition routes exist under Title 77, Chapter 40a, and eligibility turns on the case, its completion, later charges, payment duties, and the applicable wait period. The Utah Courts expungement guide supplies current forms and rules.
An expunged case can vanish from Xchange while an old third-party image or stale page remains. That conflict does not make the old copy the better record. Use the current court and agency response. Do not try to rebuild a hidden case from an aggregator. For a lawful current inquiry, the custodian’s classification and the court order control.
Note: Missing public court data may reflect restricted access, so it should never be treated as proof that no case existed.
Find Emery County Released Inmates
Start with the custody system, not just the arresting agency. A county arrest may end in a local release, a UDC commitment, or a federal transfer. Once that route is known, stop when a primary record supports the result. A current roster, if one later appears, would still show custody rather than serve as a complete archive of released Emery County inmates.
- Call Emery County Jail about a recent local stay. Ask for the actual exit date, time, disposition, and destination.
- File a focused GRAMA request when documentary proof or a historical entry is needed.
- Search UDC and the Board when the person may have served a state sentence.
- Use Utah VINE for custody change notices, then confirm the event with the holding agency.
- Read the correct Justice or District Court file for the order, sentence, dismissal, or probation status.
- Use BOP, ICE, or USMS sources only when the case entered that custody system.
A person who left the live jail population may have been released or transferred. “Not found” alone does not distinguish those outcomes.
For a historical release, lead with archived Sheriff records, the court judgment, a Board decision, or a federal locator. VINE is built for notices, not certified history. When dates differ, identify whether each is an order date, planned parole date, jail exit, supervision start, or sentence termination.
Emery County UDC Release Search
The UDC Offender Search covers people currently under Utah correctional supervision. It is the right public source for a state prisoner, including a UDC prisoner contract-housed at Emery County Jail. It does not cover an ordinary county detainee who was never committed to UDC, and a fully discharged person may no longer appear.
| Search or detail field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| First and last name | Enter at least one letter in both fields; middle name is optional. |
| Offender number | Prefer this identifier when known because names and aliases can collide. |
| Location and housing facility | Distinguish prison, parole, probation, or another UDC placement. |
| Release Date/Type | Read the exact live label; it may be blank or N/A. |
| Case manager | May be blank and is not promised on every public profile. |
The manifest capture of the UDC name and offender-number form shows the two principal search routes.
The form’s limited fields make a known offender number the best way to avoid a namesake. A future Release Date/Type is not the same as actual release. Compare it with the Board’s operative order and later UDC status.
Note: UDC status applies only to state correctional jurisdiction and does not replace the Sheriff record for an ordinary county release.
Emery County Recent Release Records
The official Sheriff and county navigation reviewed on August 8, 2026 did not expose a jail roster, 24-hour release list, 72-hour release list, or searchable booking archive. That dated finding must not be turned into a claim that Emery County will never add one. For now, the honest same-day route is a person-specific call followed by a narrow records request.
Ask whether the person remains housed. If not, ask whether the exit was to the community or another agency. The Emery release page for the last 24 hours explains how to frame that same-day request. Do not use UDC as a substitute unless the person was actually under state correctional jurisdiction.
Emery County Release Court Paths
Emery’s two court levels can explain different jail exits. Justice Court handles qualifying lower-level matters and publishes its contact details at the official Emery Justice Court page. Felony commitments and prison sentences belong in the Seventh District Court record. A court release order supplies authority, while the jail entry supplies the actual time of exit.
Utah Xchange is the public subscription system for district and justice case data. MyCase is for a person’s own eligible case, not a general public name search. The manifest capture of the official Xchange access page shows why clerk access remains a separate route.
Use the docket to find a dismissal, judgment, sentence, credit, probation order, warrant, or termination. It explains the legal event, but it does not replace the Sheriff’s custody timestamp.
Emery County Post-Release Supervision
Utah Adult Probation and Parole supervises both court probation and Board parole, but those statuses start in different ways. The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole decides release from a state prison sentence and sentence termination. AP&P conducts field supervision. A Board decision can support an authorized parole date, while the court order is the key record for probation.
Emery County is served by AP&P Region 6 in Price. No public probationer roster was found. Verify a named status through the court order, UDC or AP&P contact, and the Board decision when parole is involved. The parole and probation record paths must remain separate because one begins with the Board and the other with a court.
Emery County State Release Pickup
Emery County has a special release-location issue because the county jail contract-houses some UDC prisoners. According to UDC Release Day instructions, prison paroles and releases are normally processed on Tuesdays at Utah State Correctional Facility. Support people for someone housed in a county jail are told to arrive at the USCF Release building at 10 a.m. Processing can take one to four hours.
The person may have slept in Emery County but still leave through the state process. Almost all state prisoners, including those housed in a county jail, release through USCF. Rare direct county-jail exceptions are communicated to the affected support person. The official release-day verification and pickup directions are shown in the captured page.
Note: Verify the planned date before traveling because a Board date can change before UDC completes release processing.
Getting Home After Emery Release
UDC gives a separate pickup plan for a person completing state release processing. No more than two support people should arrive in one vehicle, and the person providing the ride checks in with a name and phone number. These rules help the release team match the departing person with the planned driver after processing is complete.
If no ride is available, UDC says a release-team member or volunteer may provide a case-by-case trip to a UTA TRAX station near Utah State Correctional Facility. People without rides are released last. This option applies to a state prisoner processed at USCF. It is not an Emery County bond-out transport rule, even when the person had been housed in the county jail.
Emery County Mixed Release Authority
The UDC county-jail directory reports 80 beds at Emery County Jail, including 15 beds available under contract to Corrections. It also lists 13 work assignments. Those dated figures are facility facts, not a current population or annual release total.
Two people in the same Castle Dale building can therefore have different release authorities. A local detainee follows the Sheriff and court path. A contract-housed state prisoner follows UDC and Board records. Physical location alone does not decide which search is correct.
Emery County Release Alert Sources
Utah VINELink can search a person and register custody-change alerts. UDC lists release, transfer, escape, return, death, some parole-date notices, and moves among its events. VINE is useful for timely awareness, but it is not a certified historical release record. Confirm a key event with the jail, UDC, or Board.
Federal custody requires different tools. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 onward and can display a released status or date. A USMS pretrial detainee may not appear like a sentenced BOP inmate. ICE’s current locator can also lag and is not a full historical archive. A county exit on a federal or immigration hold may be a transfer, not community release.
Compare Emery County Release Sources
Use the source that owns the status. Mixing county, state, and federal systems is the most common cause of a false conclusion.
| Situation | Primary source | What it can prove |
|---|---|---|
| Recent county-jail exit | Sheriff phone and GRAMA record | Exit time, disposition, and destination |
| Still in Emery custody | Jail staff | Current housing, subject to disclosure limits |
| UDC prisoner or parolee | UDC search and Board decision | State status and parole authority |
| Court release or probation | Justice or District Court file | Legal order and case disposition |
| Federal prison release | BOP locator | Federal release status and date |
| Immigration detention | ICE locator and ERO contact | Current or recent ICE custody within system limits |
Why is a released person missing? A live roster is designed to lose an entry after custody ends. The same blank result can also follow a transfer, spelling mismatch, archive move, or system delay. A dated record resolves the ambiguity.
Emery County Release Facility
The Facility Map identifies one physical correctional facility in the county: Emery County Jail. It holds local pretrial detainees, eligible local sentenced prisoners, and some contract-housed UDC prisoners. No separate municipal lockup, state prison, federal prison, ICE center, or community correctional center was identified within Emery County.
A local release may go to the community or probation. A transfer may go to UDC or another named custodian. State prisoners ordinarily follow the statewide processing route even when housed locally. Ask for the individual destination instead of inferring it from the jail’s name.
